This page is for the person who will be hosting Classic Rock Bingo.  We will update this page on a regular basis so make sure to come back often.  We're going to provide tips and advice on how to make your Classic Rock Bingo night the best it can possibly be.  We provide the framework for a very successful evening BUT it's up to you, the host, to make it a fabulous night that will keep your customers coming back.

Many of the pubs that play Classic Rock Bingo also incorporate other fun things into the night's festivities. We will share these ideas with you and we will post them to this page.  If you've tried something unique with your Classic Rock Bingo night, please share it with us.

Important:  Don't ask customers if they want to play, just give everyone a bingo card.  If they choose not to play that is their choice. When everyone is given a card you'll find that 99% of your customers will play, even the grouchy ones who first said "I don't do bingo."  For customers arriving after a game has already started, have a few bingo cards at the ready with the first 10-15 songs of the game marked off.  Customers can then join in the game and not feel left out.  If they arrive after 15 songs are played, just politely tell them that you will be starting a new game with new cards shortly.  (If you let people play that have arrived very late in the game, you'll tick off the people who have already been playing)

Speak To The Crowd Regularly:
Remind them a few times per game as to what they need to win.
Ie:  "For our next winner we are looking for 2 lines any direction, that's 2 lines any direction"
If a song comes up and a few people don't know it...chances are others don't know the song.
Get on the mic and tell them what the song is.

Important: Make sure your customers don't hear any song repeats in a night of bingo. When you're choosing the games to play for your bingo night, it's important to play games that are numerically close to each other.

Example: Play games 101 104 107. The possibility that any of these games will have any of the same songs is very small.  But (for example) Game 130 may have some of the songs that appear in Game 104. We have a huge library of songs but we do have to use songs more than once, especially the good ones!

Multiple Winners:
You will have times where 2 or 3 people have a bingo at the same time.  When that happens, have them draw a number out of a hat.  Highest number wins.  Simple & Easy.

When you get a winner, quickly scan thru the card, don't take too long as it kills the mood.  Write "winner" on the card and give it back to them, tell them they can continue to play but you are only allowed to win once per game.

Pens or Pencils?
If you are going to use pens, make sure to take the plastic top off the pen first.  If you give them a pen with a cap, you're not going to see that pen again lol.  If there isn't a cap, they won't stick it in their pocket.
Many pubs just use the small pencils that they use at golf courses.  They work great and nobody steals them. The only negative aspect is that you have to sharpen them once in a while.

Prizes:
Have 3 winners per game.  Most pubs use $5 gift certificates that are valid on the "next" visit.
or go shopping at the Dollar Store.  There are lots of cool items for a couple of dollars, fill up a table with items and winners get to pick their prize.

NEW: A great idea from one of our pubs, here's what they do. They don't allow a customer to win twice with the same card, so when someone wins the two lines across, they give them another card that is being played by the host. Then the host takes their card and gives it to another customer who has a lousy card.

New idea that we now use, some people need a hand with nearly every song...it's a pain in the butt lol. Here's a remedy, bring the host list to them, have them take a picture of it with their smart phone...problem solved!

Fun Things To Do During The Games:
Get your customers involved in the games, here's a few ideas that have been successful in other pubs.

"Heads or Tails" Game:  "Whoever would like to play a game and win a prize, please stand up."
When they stand up tell them to put their hands on their head or on their hips, flip the coin. If it's heads, tell those with hands on their hips to sitdown.Again, tell customers hands on hips or head, then flip coin again. This game takes about 90 seconds till you get down to the final few players. If you get down to 2 players, have them pick heads or tails between the two and get a winner. This avoids both of the possibility of both of them being eliminated if they do the same thing.

Trivia Challenge: Many people are nervous about volunteering for a trivia challenge (they don't want to look stupid in front of their friends. Make all your trivia questions, true or false answers. Ask 5 questions, they need 3 correct answers to win. You can have some fun with the false questions by making them funny and outrageous.
Here's a couple of links to help you come up with questions.

Heads Up: This is a fun game that is featured on the T.V. show Ellen. Write something on a piece of paper and hand it to the person (they can't look at it) they have to hold it on their forehead and their friends have to give them hints to figure out what it is. Ellen has an app for it so you can use an ipad or smartphone. Click the video clip to see how the game is played, it's lots of fun. Here's a link to another video clip of the game. Tell them they need to get 4 correct answers in 60 seconds to win a prize. It can be movies, famous stars, animals, whatever you would like.

Name That Tune for a free square:
For this game invite customers up and you play a brief 5 second clip of a song and they have to guess what it is.
If they guess correct they get a FREE SQUARE.  At anytime during the current game they get a free square to use wherever they would like on their card.  If they need one more square for a bingo, they can use their free square to win.
